The Father Is Already Running
God is not waiting to scold you. The moment you turn toward the Father, He is already moving toward you.
Picture someone who has wasted everything. Every resource, every relationship, every opportunity. They hit rock bottom and finally come to their senses. They rehearse an apology on the long walk home, fully expecting to be turned away or at best tolerated. But the father in Luke 15 does not wait at the door with crossed arms. He sees his child from a distance and runs. He does not wait for the apology to be finished. He throws a robe on his shoulders and calls for a celebration. That is the picture Jesus chose to describe God's response when someone comes home. When someone repents and asks for forgiveness! Maybe you have been rehearsing your own apology, convinced that God needs to hear the full explanation before He will let you back in. Maybe you have been waiting until you feel worthy enough to return. But God is not waiting to scold you. He is not preparing a lecture. He is watching for you. The prodigal son's shame did not stop him from coming home, and it does not have to stop you either. The moment you turn toward the Father, He is already moving toward you. That is not a metaphor. That is His character. Quote "The Father is not waiting to fight with you, scold you and punish you. The Father is not waiting to hurt you and bring you harm. He's waiting to embrace you. He's been waiting for a long time." Prayer Lord, thank You that You are not waiting to punish me but to embrace me. Give me the courage to stop rehearsing my excuses and simply come home to You. Amen.
